The For the People Act Must Pass the Senate

The For the People Act is finally coming up for a historic vote in the Senate this week. Your voice is crucial to ensuring that the Senate passes this bill. Contact your senators* and implore them to vote YES on the For the People Act.

Our nation is facing a plague of anti-voter laws that attack the inherent right to vote. The For the People Act represents the best defense by:

  • Cleaning up our political system;
  • Getting big money out of politics;
  • Protecting voting rights;
  • Holding elected officials accountable for corruption, and;
  • Creating a democracy that is representative of all Americans.

The For the People Act embodies much of the voting rights and democracy work the League of Women Voters has fought for over 100 years. In the words of our CEO, Virginia Kase:

"The For the People Act is the democracy reform bill the American people want and deserve...The provisions in this legislation will lead to greater trust in government and elected leaders by creating fairness, transparency, and accountability."

We have made incredible strides on this bill since it was first introduced. This is in no small part thanks to allies like you, who have reached out to their legislators to voice their support. Now the bill is inches from the finish line, and it is up to us all to help get it passed.

The For the People Act represents a real chance for Americans to have a say in key decisions that impact their lives. Stand up and make your voice heard; tell your senators* that the For the People Act must pass, that they must vote YES!!

Yours in the fight,
