League of Women Voters

Dear Friend,

Thank you for joining the League of Women Voters online community through Care2! You've joined thousands of other activists in supporting comprehensive immigration reform. The legislation is clearing its final hurdles this week in the Senate.Care2

For over 90 years, the League of Women Voters has fought to educate and engage Americans on the issues impacting their communities. Rooted in the movement that secured the right to vote for women, the League strives to expand participation and give a voice to all Americans. We believe that people form the basis of a strong democracy. Year in and year out, Leagues across the country are committed to providing fact-based information about issues directly from the candidates to help voters make their own decisions and participate in the process. Our issues are grounded in our respected history of making democracy work for all citizens.

Joining our online community is just the first step toward working with other activists and community volunteers to help the League educate and engage members of your community. Here are additional steps you can take to do even more –

•    Learn more about our priority issues and read about our recent work on our blog
•    Find your state or local League and join the movement to make democracy work

The League of Women Voters is committed to educating voters and making sure voters have all of the information they need to participate in the election and ensure their vote counts. That’s why we created VOTE411.org a “one-stop-shop” for election-related information. Since 2006, VOTE411.org has provided millions of voters with information about the election process, including information directly from the candidates regarding their vision for America’s future, absentee and early voting options, registration deadlines, ID requirements, and important updates regarding any changes voters like you can expect to see at the polls.

The League of Women Voters never supports or opposes candidates for office, or political parties. We encourage informed and active participation in government by working to educate voters and to increase understanding of major public policy issues, including protecting and engaging voters, reforming money in politics, and defending the environment. In addition to advocating on national issues, League members mobilize around issues that matter in their states and their communities, helping the League serve as a voice for citizens and a force for change.

Thank you again for your interest and support, and welcome to our online community!
