Take action today as we approach the next cut-off date of March 13 for bills that are not related to the budget to pass out of their house of origin:
  • It only takes a couple mintues to contact your Legislators about bills at key stages of the legislative process by completing each week's Action Alerts.
  • Advocate for specific bills important to your concerns and interests by clicking on your favorite issue in the Legislative Priorities section below.
You can also take in person action locally at Town Hall Meetings which many legislators will be hosting in their district on March 16 or 23. This is a great opportunity to connect with legislators, and for them to hear from you directly.

Plan to attend – and advocate for issues and bills that are important to you!

This Week's Alerts!

If you do nothing else, here are the most important actions you can take:

Support Counting People in Their Home Districts

Support accurate representation and urge your Senator to move SB 5287 out of Rules and onto the floor to pass it. This bill adjusts prison populations from their current count in prison districts to their home districts. Avoid inaccurate representation, and the underfunding of the needs of the prisoners' home districts.

Better representation is key to a stronger democratic republic. Please click here to urge your Senator to pass this bill.

Let’s Work to Balance the Washington State Tax Structure

If it seems like every year the legislature says it lacks the financial resources to invest in programs that we value for the people of our state – they do! 2SHB 2117 provides a pathway to modernize and rebalance the Washington state tax structure.

This bill needs to move from the House Rules Committee so that it can be considered by the full House of Representatives by March 13.

Require Drug Pricing Transparency

2SSB 5292 requires that the Office of Financial Management be notified within 60 days if the cost of a drug is increased. This bill is a great first step to address rising drug costs. Patients need drugs they can afford--25% percent of people report having difficulty affording medications and one out of eight people say they have rationed doses because of increased costs.
