As we give thanks for all we have accomplished and reflect on the progress we have made, we know there are still those who did not have their voice heard this election cycle. We saw voter suppression in states like Georgia and Florida, stricter voter ID laws passed in North Carolina and Arkansas, and unfounded accusations of voter fraud that cast doubt on the electoral process—threatening future ballot access.
We still have a long way to go to ensure that every citizen has the unrestricted right to make their voice heard and fully participate in our democracy.
As I reflect on my first election with the League, I know that our work has never been more important.
This week, I am giving thanks for this network of strong, powerful women and men working hard to defend democracy for all.
