Friend, If you voted this year or helped others in your community cast their votes, thank you! While a few races remain up in the air and final tallies are being counted, many new federal, state and local leaders are preparing for their positions and taking into account your vote and the issues you and millions of Americans weighed in on. Now, we must hold our elected officials accountable by continuing to be in regular contact with them on the issues we care about. Thank you for taking control and thank you for helping to make sure your friends and family were also prepared to vote. We hope to build upon this year’s successes and do even more to succeed in Making Democracy Work® in the future. Help us continue to provide voters with the election information they need. Year after year, League volunteers work tirelessly to serve their communities, and this year was no different. League members registered tens of thousands of new voters (with a special focus on young people and newly naturalized citizens), provided nonpartisan information on the candidates through millions of printed and online voters’ guides and hundreds of debates and forums, as well as serving as poll workers, poll monitors and, in some cases, drivers helping voters get to the polls. In the past few months, I visited five battleground states where I witnessed this incredible work. While assisting these Leagues with their voters’ service activities, I also met with elections officials and encouraged voters to get the elections information they needed and weigh in on the critical issues in their communities. League volunteers also helped nearly 1.5 million voters find the information they needed to successfully participate in this election by visiting the League’s award-winning VOTE411.org website. In nearly 800 communities across the country, Leagues did and will continue to do the work that we do best: arming voters with the information they need to get to the polls. It is the work that the League has done for almost 95 years and there is no one that does it better. Thanks again for everything you did in Making Democracy Work® this election cycle. We couldn’t do what we do without supporters like you.
