It is possible that when we look back at 2013, it will be seen as a watershed year - a year that America hit a turning point in the battle for voting rights and recognized that we must do what we can to expand access to the polls, instead of creating new barriers that make it more difficult to vote.

Last week, the Internal Revenue Service issued a notice of proposed rulemaking geared at curbing the abuse of 501(c)(4) non-profit organizations for partisan political activities. We see this proposal as a major step in the fight against secret money unleashed into our political system following the decision by the U.S. Supreme Court in Citizens United.
