Reduce the greenhouse gas emissions from hydrofluorocarbons

The League of Women Voters of Washington believes that global climate change is one of the most serious threats facing our state, nation and planet today, and we advocate measures to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, enact measures that promote climate resiliency, and invest in clean energy programs.

Hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs) are a category of gases used primarily as refrigerants and are among the greenhouse gases identified by the EPA and the Department of Ecology as potent and long lasting. This bill seeks to reduce and manage HFCs, regulate use and establish a preference in state procurement for recycled refrigerants.
