Take Action to Improve the Growth Management Act

For almost 30 years, cities and counties in Washington have written comprehensive plans for managing their growth in compliance with Washington State’s Growth Management Act

The League supports the GMA with positions enumerated in our Program In Action, page 30, and has strongly supported the act since its incorporation as described in the same document on page 26.


Yet complying with the current GMA does not ensure a sustainable and equitable future for Washington’s people and environment. Most importantly, it does not yet require our cities and counties to adequately plan for affordable housing needs and, address climate change and consider issues of environmental justice and equity in land-use development. Send a message to your legislators now.
