Action Alert: Keep the Momentum Going on SSB 6620

SSB 6620 emerged Friday, March 2 from the Senate Rules Committee and is waiting for a vote on the Senate floor. The bill includes the Enhanced Background Checks for Assault Weapons (originally SB 5444) in a School Security package that also includes grants to school districts for emergency implementation and a confidential communications system allowing students, teachers, and the public to report possible threats with anonymity.

It will take continued action from now to the end of session to get this passed. SSB 6620 is on the Senate Floor calendar, reconvening Monday, March 5. Then it is on to the House, and to the House Floor by Thursday, March 8, the end of session.

Students are being urged by the Alliance for Gun Responsibility to demonstrate and use their voices on Tuesday. Please help support these voices by contacting your legislators below.
