Action Alert: Pass the Bump Stock Ban-Bring it to a House vote this week!

The Bump Stock Ban ESB 5992 appears to be the only major gun safety bill to make it through this week’s cutoff and is now in the Rules Committee. Also still in the Rules Committee is 2ESSB 1122, the Dangerous Access Prevention Bill. Both need “pulls” to get these bills on the House Floor for a vote.

Bills to ban or require enhanced background checks for assault weapons purchase did not pass out of committee in either Senate or House. The attempted shooting in our own backyard in Mukilteo and the Florida school shooting do not appear to have had effect on our legislative process. Both occurrences involved 19-year-olds who were able to acquire AR-15 weapons with a simple background check. In neither Florida nor Washington would they be able to purchase a pistol or a beer so easily.
