If the mid-term elections showed anything, it was that our dismantled campaign finance laws and the changes to the Voting Rights Act are hurting our democracy. With millions of dollars in undisclosed spending and potentially hundreds of thousands of people prevented from casting ballots because of voter suppression laws, the work of the League of Women Voters is more than ever.
Join me in pledging to support the League’s work on #GivingTuesday. Click here: http://participate.lwv.org/c/10065/p/dia/action3/common/public/?action_KEY=10594
Taking place the Tuesday after Thanksgiving – and subsequently after Black Friday, Small Business Saturday and Cyber Monday – #GivingTuesday is an unofficial holiday that began in 2012 to help change the conversation about holiday spending. Consider making a holiday gift donation in honor of someone in your life who helps make democracy work.
In 2015, the League is committed to stepping up the fight for voters’ rights, doing even more to ensure that all eligible voters have access to the polls, push even harder for meaningful campaign finance reform, and help protect and advance legislation and climate change and other critical issues .
#GivingTuesday is propelled by those who believe that passion and commitment can make a difference. On December 2, join me in supporting the League's important work to engage voters and to increase understanding of major public policy issues, including protecting voters’ rights, reforming money in politics, and defending the environment on #GivingTuesday. And, because of the support of generous League donors, every donation made on #GivingTuesday will be matched dollar-for-dollar, meaning you will have twice the impact!
